Is TG linked to sexual orientation?
- by John O'Dea
Trans-genderism or transsexuality of the M to F variant does not appear to be linked in any way to sexual orientation. Having said that transsexuality is a mixed bag.
So for example, many of my younger patients seem to be attracted towards males whereas many of my older patients are attracted to females. It would not be unlikely than that sexual orientation in the two different groups might cancel each other out statistically. Furthermore I believe that sexual orientation beliefs are grossly oversimplified in our society because of the massive to booze involved. Many of my patients who used to be unambiguously attracted to women may go through a transition. That is almost a sexual but which culminates in big attracted to men. The official word these days is that bisexuality is not unusual in women but is rare in men but I believe that this is a gross oversimplification. I also believe that sexual orientation is hormone sensitive. I think the very concept of speaking about homosexuals and heterosexuals is inaccurate. People are supposed to be defined on the basis of their characteristics, and not those of the people they like. The bottom line is that our society becomes totally irrational when dealing with sexuality and gender so we should not take its official opinions with too much seriousness. The bottom line is that TS & TG are unrelated to sexual orientation which may be gay, straight or bi, but sex hormone therapy can change your sexual orientation & preferences.
