History

It's been almost 30 years now, since O'Dea first encountered a clinical psychologist who specialized in the field of transgender care. This wonderful woman, an Auschwitz survivor highly dissatisfied with the contemporary hormonal treatments of her patients, begged him to design his own approach to Trans-Care, one free of preconceived ideas or biases.  She knew him as a trailblazer from his work in genetic women.  Even back then, O'Dea felt that women were being frequently shortchanged by the prevailing system of traditional medicine.  The system was simplistic, indeed reductionistic, painting linear, frozen pictures of a complex, ever-changing reality, worshipping structure while ignoring the dynamic processes going on within a woman's complex, systems-wide arrangements.
